TAPASAN PRECISION MECHANIC AND ELECTRONIC INDUSTRY AND TRADE
The Turkish Armed Forces Foundation has a stake 25% in Tapasan Precision Mechanic and Electronic Industry and Trade. Tapasan was established with several aims in mind: to minimize the dependency of the Turkish Armed Forces on foreign sources for ammunition fuses; to manufacture, with as much domestic production as possible, the required fuses for every type of ammunition; to bring modern fuse technology and testing capabilities into Turkey; and with research and development to create original designs so that eventually the demand for fuses can be met entirely by the local economy. 

The main activity fields are the design, production and testing of fuses for all kinds of ammunition and defence industry projects.

Products components are produced by local national industries under the supervision of the Tapasan Quality Assurance Department, using the Flexible Production Model with the final assembly and testing performed at the Tapasan facilities.

Tapasan has the Facility Security and ISO 9001:2000 (Quality Management System Standard) certificates.

Tapasan has an office to run R&D activities in METU Technopolis.

Thanks to work carried out since the establishment of the company various models and types of fuse have been specially made to be compatible with the ammunition used by the Turkish Armed Forces. Before entering production approval is given together with the Turkish Armed Forces.

Besides the production of fuses, there are ongoing R&D studies to create the technology for developing new and modern fuses within the country.
 
Computer controlled test systems used in the production of explosives originally brought into the country only with great difficulty, are now being designed here with no dependency on foreign sources. We became one of the few companies in the world that can produce these kinds of test systems.

Thanks to the technological know-how created, different test systems with special features are now being designed and produced. In the past, defence industry companies had difficulty in procuring such systems.
